Trust only works if you can see how the money flows. This page explains exactly how aSoberBed is funded, what facilities pay for, and what they can never buy.

How we make money

aSoberBed is an advertising-supported directory. Treatment facilities may pay a flat, fixed monthly fee for enhanced listing features (photos, expanded descriptions, analytics) or featured placement. Our fees:

are set in advance at standard published rates, consistent with fair market value for directory advertising;
never vary with the number of calls, clicks, leads, inquiries, admissions, or patients a listing generates;
are never a commission, referral fee, or percentage of any facility's revenue.

We do not sell leads. We do not operate a call center. We do not transfer calls. Every phone number and website link on this site connects you directly to the facility itself.

What paying does — and doesn't — get a facility

Does: richer profile content, a claimed badge after verification, listing analytics, and clearly labeled featured placement slots.
Doesn't: change organic search ranking, verification status, trust indicators, or whether corrections to their data are honored. We correct verified inaccuracies for free, for every facility, whether or not they pay.

Sponsored content is always labeled. Any placement a facility has paid for carries a visible "Paid listing" label, in line with FTC guidance on advertising disclosures. If it isn't labeled, it isn't paid.

No steering, no recommendations

aSoberBed does not recommend, rank, or endorse any specific facility, and our team never advises users on which facility to choose. Organic results are ordered by relevance to the search you typed — level of care, medications offered, populations served, payment options, and location. Payment plays no role in that ordering.

The legal framework we operate under

Our flat-fee, no-commission model is designed around the federal Eliminating Kickbacks in Recovery Act (EKRA), 18 U.S.C. §220, which prohibits paying or receiving anything of value in exchange for patient referrals to recovery homes, clinical treatment facilities, and laboratories. It also aligns with state patient-brokering and information-service statutes (including Florida §817.505 and comparable laws) that permit advertising and listing services only where fees are set in advance, consistent with fair market value, and not based on patient volume or the value of services provided. Where state law requires marketing-relationship disclosures (for example, Tennessee), this page and our listing agreements serve that purpose.

Standards for sponsored placement

Featured ("Paid listing") slots require LegitScript addiction-treatment certification or an active application, plus our own verification of licensure and accreditation.
Facilities must hold a current state license in good standing for every location listed.
Deceptive advertising practices — misrepresenting location, services, costs, or affiliation — result in removal, without refund.

Our data

Baseline facility data comes from SAMHSA's National Substance Use and Mental Health Services Survey (N-SUMHSS) and FindTreatment.gov, enriched with facility websites and verification signals by our team. Facilities can claim their listing to correct or expand their information at any time, free of charge.
